Mr. Wanli Zhao joined Neucel in August 2012 with over 30 years of experience in the Chinese pulp industry. He has worked with several pulp mills across China. Prior to joining Neucel, Wanli has served in a number of executive management positions at Zhuhai Lichuang Investment and Development Co., Ltd. and Zhuhai Hongtarenheng Paper Co., Ltd. both located in Guangdong Province, China. He has also served in role of Director for the Chinese government’s Ministry of Light Industry.
Wanli is a pioneer in the Chinese pulp sector and a well-recognized operations specialist. In addition to a master’s degree of chemical engineering, Wanli is the recipient of a number of major Chinese national prizes for his work in the pulp and paper industry. These include the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the Zhuhai City Science and Technology Progress Award.
Wanli’s primary goal is to manage and support the emergence of Neucel as a leader in the global specialty pulp business. He welcomes the opportunity for change and growth and is excited about his return to Canada. Wanli is an avid outdoorsman and fisherman and enjoys many of the outdoor activities available in the beautiful surroundings of Port Alice, BC.
Lawrence has been a veteran senior person at Neucel for over 26 years during which time he has held various managerial positions. Lawrence has displayed his professional skills and determination to help the mill operations throughout all the various stages of change. While currently at Neucel, he has bore witness to a number of market and company changes. Lawrence is a true representative of the dedicated workforce at the Port Alice mill, and portrays the commitment of dedication found in a number of our employees.
Lawrence is looking forward to working closely with the executive team management and expert technical team in his new leadership role.
Tai Y. Cheng
Mr. Tai Y. Cheng joined Neucel in January 2013 and brings his extensive experience advising international businesses on complex cross-border legal and operational issues. In addition to being born in Vancouver, BC, Tai spent time living and advising clients in Calgary, Alberta; London, England; Hong Kong; and Beijing, China.
Prior to joining Neucel, Tai practiced law at the Vancouver offices of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and the London offices of Linklaters LLP. His legal practice focuses on corporate/commercial law, mergers & acquisition, tax law and various other corporate and banking matters. Tai received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from Mount Allison University; a Juris Doctor and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Calgary; and a Masters of Laws specializing in the foreign direct investment laws of China from Peking University.
Tai believes in community outreach and enjoys giving back to local communities in his spare time. He volunteers and provides leadership in the community through his work with a number of local charitable and not-for-profit organizations in Canada and China.
